Discontinuities in Negative Lab v2.3 profile

Sony is a bit different with how they name their camera models internally… look for “Sony ILCE-1M2” - which is how they internally designate the A1ii

I tried replacing each element but the only one that made a difference artifact-wise was replacing the LookTable. The ToneCurve was different, obviously, but did not change those particular results.

Ok, thank you.

  1. Have you noticed this on other conversions?

  2. Are you able to try re-digitizing this same frame at a lower exposure and see if you still see this issue?

  1. I have noticed it on a few others, in particularly some foggy night streetlight photos.
  2. I will try to do that and get back to you with the results.

Thanks for taking the time.

It seems you were right (unsurprisingly, I suppose), dropping the exposure a bit improved the situation. It’s still crazy to me that we in 2026 don’t have some indicator of RAW clipping in all of our camera bodies…

indeed … and UniWB is not everyone‘s cup of tea. I use it for scanning because it provides a raw histogram that helps to set exposure more accurately. Nevertheless, I keep some empty space right of the histogram as recommended in the guide.
