my apologoes for the delay in replying. I tested positive for covid and was out for a few days. ugh.
the original slides are very detailed and in focus. the rocks in the one Grand Canyon photos and the aircraft in the PDK are all in focus and have good clear close detail. This is all noticeable under an 8 x loupe and with projection.
I’ll shoot at f8 and 5.6 to see if there is an improvement.

Check out this page and shoot a test negative at all apertures in order to find the one that suits you best. I expect you’ll get the best results between f/4 and f/5.6…
Vlad’s Test Target is very useful for this type of appraisal, and also pay attention to Burkphoto’s bullet points above for getting the best out of your system.
