In my opinion this is a really good introduction, treatise even, on the complexities of processing Fuji X-Trans files. It comes from DxO who for a long time didn’t process Fuji X-Trans files at all. Now they are harnessing the power of neural networks to do so. They say that this is also the basis for Adobe’s Enhance Details process.
I have the Sony A73 and A7r3 and both work great with the Sigma 105mm f2.8 macro at f8. I have the A7r3 setup for scanning.
You can use FF (42mp) or switch to crop mode (18mp). You can very easily use FF for larger format negs without doing the time intensive PS stitching.
I read one report that using very high rez cameras (50+ mp) can exaggerate the grain.
And as another person has already mentioned it also depends on your final output size. Internet only?,
large prints, post cards, etc.
I use mine for work and scanning so it gets used a lot for everything.
An economical option is the (24mp) A73.
Hope this helps,
F
I will use it for printing up to 11x14 and for the web. Do you have notice the same undesirable effect on grain on the A7RIII? and in case, use the crop sensor feature resolve? Thanks
