Does anyone have tips on how to collect (for lack of a better word) negatives as you scan a full roll? I have a good workflow for getting my negatives into the film holder, but after I’ve scanned they become unwieldy, pooling on my desk. I try to keep the environment dust-free, but there’s obviously only so much I can do and this seems like a recipe for disaster.
Thanks in advance!
I keep cut negatives in archival sleeves in folders or boxes and uncut film in the sleeve it came with, rolled loosely in round cardboard boxes of at least 5 inches diameter. Roll them the other way occasionally, e.g. every few years. Look for folders and boxes that are meant for archival storage. They’re usually not painted and not coated.
Don’t use boxes with any kind of foam. They decompose giving off fumes that can damage the film.
I know the problem! Havent thought of a good take-up system. Could you share with us how you keep the roll of film well when (before) feeding it into the holder? Currently I lay it on a soft cloth and hope for the best..
