I’m currently using Vuescan and a V850 for scanning. I have read the guide and have zero issues with color. Where I’m running into some issues is black and white. Is there any advantage in using DNG with BW film? Currently, I’m outputting to DNG. When in Lightroom, I import, update Vuescan DNGs per the guide, read metadata, and convert. However, I’m seeing huge clipping in the shadows. Oddly, if I update Vuescan DNGs per the guide, then lower the exposure of each file by about 1/3 stop prior to converting, I get all the shadow detail back. Anyone else experiencing this? Should I be skipping the Vuescan DNG update with BW images?
