What should I do if my scanner is not supported?

Hello,

unfortunately my scanner (Reflecta Crystalscan 7200) is not supported until now. I already created a RAW DNG file as described by Nate and send it to nate@natephotographic.com, my question is what should I do temporarily until my scanner is supported? Possible choices are in my opinion:

  • Ignore the “profile missing” warning
  • Creating a tiff-file in Vuescan and use this for Neg Lab Pro
  • Choose another scanner profile (e.g. Reflecta RPS 10M) and hope its similar

What is the best of these options?
In addition i would like to know if its possible to receive updated profiles before the next release.

Best regards!

Hi,

Just to clarify, Negative Lab Pro includes support for ALL scanner models in Vuescan - it’s just that in some cases, you may have to perform a few extra steps.

If you see a “Profile Missing” warning after opening Negative Lab Pro on your RAW DNG, you just need to do the following:

  1. Import the RAW DNGs into Lightroom (if you haven’t already)
  2. Select all the RAW DNGs
  3. Go to “File > Plugin Extras > Update Vuescan/Silverfast DNGs”
  4. Follow any instructions you receive to update metadata.
  5. After this, if you still see “Profiles Missing”, you may just need to close and restart Lightroom for it to recognize the changes and correctly apply the profile.
