Can't Delete Roll

Does anyone having issues on deleting a roll analysis?
Mine keep appearing even after I deleted them.
Anyone know where the database is? Can I manually delete the entry somehow?

The Roll ID is still there even if I click delete for some reason. The roll analysis is not created upon conversion. It is created manually in the Roll tab

In other word, it seems that when I select Analysis to This image only, it won’t clear the roll and roll ID information

Thanks!

Yes, I noticed this the other day when messing around with roll analysis and then trying to delete a roll. It just kept showing up. I tried unconverting the image, resetting the image, deleting the roll then restarting Lightroom, etc, etc. The only thing that finally worked was I removing the images from Lightroom and re-imported them.

Don’t know if this would help but I found a rolls.json file after the fact in C:\ Users \ (username) \ AppData \ Roaming \ Negative Lab Pro \ Rolls, maybe you could manually edit that.

Thanks, @yunhao.jiang,

I can confirm that the NLP metadata does incorrectly display the Roll and Roll ID of the last role applied within a session, even if you have later changed it to use “this image only” for the analysis. It is just the metadata that is wrong… in other words, the image is being displayed correctly, it is just the label here that is incorrect.

When you delete a roll, it will no longer be available across your entire library. However, any images which were used in the making of the roll may still have that roll available (as it is part of the image metadata, to preserve their appearance in case the roll data becomes unavailable).

Yep, when you do this, it clears out any Roll data attached to the images themselves. Note that there should never be more than one roll attached to the metadata of an image.

I don’t believe this will fix your issue, but just note that if you do decide to edit anything in there, I would highly highly recommend you make a backup first in case anything goes wrong.

Thanks @nate for your detailed explanation.

I think I found a way to make the roll disappear completely.
Assume we want to delete Roll 1

  1. Select the first frame in the Roll 1, go to the roll settings and select another roll’s analysis, I’ll call it “Roll 2” click Save
  2. Select all frames, and sync the roll settings in NLP (this makes all frames to use Roll 2’s analysis). Click Save
  3. Open the NLP again, Delete the Roll 1, and it will be gone!
  4. Create a new roll or select “this image only” (so that it won’t use roll 2’s setting)
