I hope that the standalone app does not mean you’ll be deprecating the lightroom plugin. Integration with LrC is one of the main reasons I use NLP over something like darktable’s negadoctor.
Just got NLP couple of months ago and I’m so impressed and happy about the product. Don’t know if others have heard about the Photomator app Apple just bought this year (would like to hear your opinions), but I’m trying to move away from Adobe and turn into that because of all the mess and trend from the Lightroom updates. The only thing I miss is NLP tbh. After reading this post I am so excited to see the standalone version and will definitely support again!!
Don’t suppose there is any chance the standalone version will support Linux? NLP in Lightroom is literally the only reason I’m not running 100% Linux now.
Hopefully it will work using Wine if not :).
I’m not an Adobe user so this sounds awesome!
I have a bunch of negatives I’m thinking about scanning soon which led me back to looking into Negative Lab Pro. Couple quick questions:
Is it worth buying NLP now if there’s another version coming soon? Has there historically been a discount for previous users? Is this a couple months or a couple years away?
Thanks!
Is there any progress on this topic?
@CameronWLucas , @janthemanson , standalone NLP is work in progress according to news sent by @nate who also mentioned an ETA by the end of the year (scroll up for his post).
Considering that everything needs to be done ± from scratch by a small company, I’d not hold my breath. As long as one uses Lightroom, the NLP plugins are well worth their money imo.
Yeah the whole end of year thing and it already being Christmas is why I was curious about an updated eta.
And I don’t use Lightroom otherwise I totally would bite the bullet ![]()
I’m about to start film developing and scanning here within the next 6 months, really hoping a standalone version is coming soon! I really do not want to get sucked into an adobe subscription service unless it’s for work. Really appreciate the responsiveness in the small time I’ve scrolled through these forums.
I see that this thread has had 2,300 views! Quite some demand.
