Weird Blue Cast in Shadows Only in Lightroom Develop Module with Negative Lab Pro v3.1.1 – Anyone Else?

Hey folks,
I’ve been running into a strange issue when converting color negatives using Negative Lab Pro v3.1.1 in Lightroom Classic.

Here’s the deal:

  • After converting my scans with NLP, I recently only since the last day or so, notice a blue cast in the deep shadows of the image.
  • This cast is only visible in the Develop module — it’s not present in the Library module or exported files.
  • It seems to go away if I nudge the Blacks slider to the right slightly — even just +2 to +5 is enough to eliminate it.
  • It looks almost like a false-color artifact or banding, but only in the deepest blacks (especially in high-contrast areas like architectural shadows or scanned film borders).

Has anyone else experienced this? Is this an issue with NLP, Lightroom’s rendering engine, or maybe how the profile interacts with the linear scan data?

Would love to know if there’s a known fix or if this is on the radar for future NLP/Lightroom updates.

Thanks!

Sounds like you may have “Show Clipping” turned on. With this turned on, anything that is pure black or pure white is displayed with blue indicators to let you know.

You can press “J” on your keyboard while in the Develop module to turn this off (you have to do it while you don’t have Negative Lab Pro). You can also go to “View > Show Clipping” to turn this off.

If that doesn’t fix it, let me know!

Omg such a simple fix. I’ve been scratching my head with this for 2 days now haha. Thank you very much Nate!
