I propose that NLP offer a possibility of a combined display of metadata.

Often, I find myself switching between Exif and NLP metadata displays, and a combination of the two would greatly help. In my case, I’d want a combo of the Exif block and the first block of NLP.

Have you seen this plugin? http://regex.info/blog/lightroom-goodies/metadata-presets

You can use it to create a custom metadata view, so you could mix and match whatever fields you’d like from EXIF and NLP and save it as a custom metadata view.
