Installing on M1 Max with Ventura

I am just trying to install NLP on an M1 Max MacBook Pro. The installation itself fails. It doesn’t trigger the Rosetta installer. I got the Rosetta installer via Terminal to work (though someone should note that the commands on the linked page on the installer don’t work), but the installation still fails. Right at the end. Thoughts? I’ll try to get the exact failure message/screenshot later.

Nevermind. Dang it, found the answer after my 4th search attempt. Thought 3 would be enough…sorry.

Great, glad you found it! For anyone else looking, here is the solution:

"Mac Ventura: issue if the installer is run from some folders

Issue: After running, the installer says “The installer has detected an error and was unable to complete the installation. Get in touch with the software manufacturer to ask for assistance”**

What’s happening: There appears to be a bug (or permission issue) with Mac Ventura that causes ALL package installers to fail when run from certain directories. Read more here: Install with Pkg file failed | MacRumors Forums

Solution: The solution is to MOVE the package installer to your Applications directory, and try running again from that directory.
