NLP 2.2 and Silverfast BW scanning without gray profile?

I have just started scanning some BW negatives in 16bit TIF with Silverfast 9 AI Studio. There doesn’t seem to be a gray profile assigned in the CMS preferences tab. So when i open the TIF in Photoshop i get a warning that there is no colorspace assigned.

Can i just assign gamma 2.2 and how will this effect NLP in Lightroom? The image seems to be very bright when converted in NLP v2.2. Is this normal?

Okay, seems BW need to be scanned 48bit positive as well.

Have you tried to convert a 16 bit tiff manually? B&W is relatively easy to convert from negative to positive and then adjust with Lightroom’s own tools.

Update: Not all apps can handle grayscale images, but I suppose that this will be of lesser concern, if you stick to Lightroom.

I think you misunderstood. The BW negative was scanned as gray 16bit, so i can’t convert it to 48bit unless i rescan it as a color negative.

The 16bit scanned negative does already looks ok, so i wonder if using NLP on a 48bit one will look better or not. Maybe i keep the 16bit as is.
