When I convert scans prior to cropping I usually take a ‘best guess’ as to how much border to exclude using the buffer. If Lightroom allows dynamic overlays it would be fantastic to visualize the excluded area based on my manually entered buffer. If I’m about to convert and I see that the 5% is going to include some strips of border I know that I have to adjust. I will sometimes convert, notice that the colours are off, then unconvert, crop, and re-convert to get things right (indicating that my buffer was too small at the start).
