Silvestri Repro Light Box?

As other on this forum I’m having trouble with lack of light evenness on Negative Supply light boxes, both the new and the old 4x5 version… So I’m looking for an other setup or at least an other light source.

Is there any who have any experience with the Silvestri Repro Light Box?

They exist both in 4x5 and a 8x10 version - I’m tempted by the 8x10 version in the pursuit for an even light surface for 4x5 scanning. The 8x10 also have a higher CRI of 97 compared to 95 for the 4x5 version.

They are not cheap, but seems quit old school sturdy construction, meant in a positive way.

Are there any experience with this system or other recommendations for a quality light setup?

Thanks in advance!

Are you actually placing your 5"x4" film on the light panel itself, is this unevenness from poor design or from the pattern of the LEDs themselves due to insufficient diffusion or distance? I’m wondering if your NS panels are sub-standard, I have seen reports of what you might call poor quality control from NS.

The Kaiser Slimline Plano series seems to have a good reputation but are quite dim compared to the types of panel derived from video lights, may be OK for you though. I noticed that Mark D Segal was using one in his high end setup.

Thanks for the reply!

No I’m using the their pro holder, or what they call it, lifted from the surface and using ANC glass, I’m an architectural photographer so I like a plane filmplan

Ordered the Kaiser yesterday, will test it later today

Great, it will be interesting to hear how you get on with it. Slower shutter speeds are fine if you have a solid support for the camera.
