Stand Alone: the Competition is not sleeping

Hello everyone,

First of all, a huge thank you to Nate for creating NLP. I’ve been using it for more than 5 years, and it has been the backbone of my film scanning workflow.

As the software landscape evolves, I’ve recently spent time testing other options. Some of the newer tools on the market have made great strides in their default “auto-conversion” algorithms, particularly with handling NLP’s known issues, like tricky skin tones, random oversaturation, and reddish shadow. While NLP is powerful enough to fix these with workarounds, having a more refined initial auto-conversion would be amazing.

That being said, my main motivation for looking for another app is that I have officially canceled my Adobe subscription. Because NLP works strictly within Lightroom, I am currently in a position where I can no longer use the plugin at all.

Knowing that a standalone NLP app is already in the planning stages is a huge relief. I wanted to share this feedback as a gentle encouragement to prioritize its development. There is a growing community of creators leaving Lightroom who are ready to transition to your standalone app and support your work directly.

Thank you for your time, your hard work, and for listening to the community!

Best regards

Yes, it’s coming along quickly and is my #1 priority right now.

I’m using FilmLab now as I cancelled all adobe subscriptions. NLP is definitely better and I wait for the stand alone program.
