Getting closer…
A few screenshots for you…
What’s completed:
- Basic catalog management, editing, and library view with settings persistence
- Basic shortcut keys (with plan to make all shortcut keys editable)
- Color management (all managed under the hood)
- All of NLP’s image editing sliders with GPU accelerated render (uses the same math from the plugin but with increased precision vs Lightroom plugin because I can do it all in 16-bit. If you want, you can still emulate the older versions though in the engine settings)
- Scopes tool with Histograms, “Chromagrams” (something new I’ve dreamed up), Waveforms, and Vectorscopes. I’ve also added a point sample tool with nameable samples and live readouts in RGB % and in LAB. I’ve also added clipping indicators into the histogram and a live photo clipping overlay.
- Fully customizable background canvases, with optional framing and grid mats. It helps SO much to be able to set up the proper context as you are editing and evaluating photos!
- Crop module with customizable overlay, draggable angle straighten tool, and fully customizable guide overlay.
In progress:
- Raw pipeline integration. I built this separate from the GUI because it was such a beast, but now I need to integrate it into the GUI.
- Proper image caching for the catalog (which will make it zippy - right now switching between photos or between editing and catalog view is a bit laggy).
- Import / Export flow (just the UI for it, the backend is already there).
- Grain diffusion & edge sharpening. (I’ve been researching this for quite some time and very close to finalizing, but just trying to find the right control parameters and defaults.)
- Full metadata display and editing
- Licensing and trial implementation.
- Testing cross-platform (Windows, Linux, Intel Macs, etc). This is always a pain.
- Transition plan for existing NLP edits from Lightroom to standalone. I’ve been experimenting with a few ways to do this and I think the most reliable will be to have a separate LR plugin to facilitate this process, but needs some work.
This is basically what’s left for V1.0, but I have an ambitious roadmap for additional features once this is out.
