Scratches on film causing discoloration

My camera left horizontal scratches across an entire roll of film. I don’t want to remove the scratches, but I’m looking for some help reducing the yellow discoloration they’re causing during conversion. Since the entire roll is affected, I’d like to try to find a quick solution instead of trying to mask the lines to correct their color.

Here’s an example image, I can provide more if needed.

Here is the original CR3 file

I’m using NLP v3.0.2, currently scanning with a Canon R5 with EF-S 60mm macro. Light source is Viltrox L116T.

Let’s say that removing the yellow discolouration was actually possible with sensible effort…what would you have instead? White lines, black lines? Not very attractive, are they.

I see two ways to handle the situation:

  • leave the images as they are for a “true” reproduction of what you have
  • remove the lines, using e.g. the clone tool
  • Convert to B&W, then the yellow is gone

Basically, this means that you’ll have to select between “a nice picture” and a, let’s call it “historic reproduction”.
