"Loading settings and metadata. This could take a minute..." takes forever

Hello,

I recently picked up NLP on the black friday sale. I have friends with it and seen it work a few times before. After installing it seemed to work fine, then shortly after, say right now, when I just fresh scanned and imported 36 images from my camera, sync’d white balance and went to open NLP for all of them, it’s been stuck on the “Loading settings and metadata. This could take a minute…” dialog for about 20 minutes so far. Any idea why or what could be causing this?

Hey Sean, what sort of machine are you running LR on? I noticed a huge improvement in Lightroom speeds when I switched to an M4, although I don’t think I’ve ever had to wait up to 20 minutes to sync that many images. Could it be a ram related issue?

It definitely shouldn’t take that long…

It might be worth trying the following:

  1. Go to File, Plugin Manager, and disable all other plugins except Negative Lab Pro. See if this improves the load time. If it does, start adding back other plugins until you find the one that’s causing the issue.

  2. Try resetting your Lightroom preferences ( How do I reset Lightroom's Preferences? | The Lightroom Queen ). After doing this you’ll need to reinstall and re-license Negative Lab Pro, but this should clear out any potential issues with your existing Lightroom settings.

  3. Make sure you have the latest version of Lightroom Classic and free hard drive space, at least a gigabyte.
