Non "Lab" profiles are way too dark

When converting my negatives, they initially look fine. If I select any profile that isn’t one of the “Lab” profiles, however, the converted image darkens a lot, forcing me to raise brightness and exposure almost all the way.

The before (left) image is left at default settings (using the Noritsu color model, but basic shows the same issue) and the NLP Standard preset which uses the “Lab - Standard” profile.

The after (right) image is the same conversion, but the profile set to “LINEAR - Gamma”. Nothing else was changed. The same problem shows up with any of the other non “Lab” profiles.

What am I doing wrong?

The issue also persists on photos that are evenly lit (“Lab - Standard” vs. “CINEMATIC - Log”):

I scanned the negatives using a Nikon Z6 II with a Nikon AF-S 105mm f/2.8 Macro mounted with the FTZ II adapter. My phone (Samsung Galaxy S25+) was used as a lightsource.
